Zeek and Dem Bones: Can These Bones Live?
In the thirty-seventh chapter of the book of Ezekiel, the prophet Ezekiel has a vision of a valley filled with dry bones. God asks Ezekiel, "Son of man, can these bones live?" Ezekiel prophesies, and the bones come together, are covered with flesh and skin, and are given breath. This vision is a powerful allegory of the resurrection of the dead and the hope of eternal life.

The Valley of Dry Bones
The valley of dry bones is a metaphor for the state of Israel at the time of Ezekiel's prophecy. The people of Israel had been defeated by their enemies and were living in exile in Babylon. They had lost their land, their temple, and their hope. They were like dry bones, scattered and lifeless.
The Breath of Life
When God asks Ezekiel, "Can these bones live?" he is asking if there is any hope for the people of Israel. Ezekiel prophesies, and the bones come together, are covered with flesh and skin, and are given breath. This is a miracle, a sign of God's power and his love for his people.
The Resurrection of the Dead
The vision of the valley of dry bones is a foreshadowing of the resurrection of the dead. Just as the bones in Ezekiel's vision were brought back to life, so too will the bodies of the dead be raised at the end of time. This is a promise of hope for all who believe in God.
The Hope of Eternal Life
The resurrection of the dead is not the end of the story. It is the beginning of eternal life. Those who believe in God will live forever in heaven, in the presence of God. This is the ultimate hope for all who believe.
The vision of the valley of dry bones is a powerful reminder of God's power and his love. It is a promise of hope for all who believe in him. It is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope.
